My fifth grade students used liquid watercolor paints, “black” glue (white school glue mixed with black paint) and 9″ x 12″ 90 lb watercolor paper and a bit of table salt to achieve this lovely watercolor leaves. Personally, we used a hot glue gun and black coloured glue sticks.

An alternative would be to draw leaves in white crayon without actually needing to do a rubbing! We tried that and i think because i used poster paint rather than acrylic it did take a long time to dry.
